Abbiamo il piacere di ospitare sul nostro blog Amy e Layne, due investigatrici del paranormale d'oltreoceano (vivono in Texas) e che hanno accettato di scambiare due chiacchiere con noi di Horror Bazar e spiegarci come è nata la loro passione e la loro voglia di esplorare ambientazioni e luoghi abbandonati, nonché potenzialmente infestati, e di documentare il tutto con una serie di video sul loro canale Youtube WhatThe?Paranormal.
Le domande che seguiranno verranno proposte sia in lingua inglese (con cui abbiamo ovviamente interloquito con Amy e Layne), sia in lingua italiana, per non snaturare in alcun modo il senso delle risposte e per permettere al tempo stesso una traduzione abbastanza fedele delle stesse.
Q: WhatThe?Paranormal is a YouTube channel, how did the idea of a paranormal channel run by a team of mother and daughter explore abandoned and haunted places? (WhatThe?Paranormal è un canale YouTube, come è nata l'idea di una squadra di madre e figlia che esplorano luoghi abbandonati e infestati?)
A: We have always went and explored haunted and abandoned places. We never thought to record them. Then we saw OmarGoshTv and decided to start documenting our evidence that we captured. The fact that my daughter and I are the main ones who liked to investigate is why we started the mother daughter team. (Abbiamo sempre esplorato luoghi infestati e abbandonati. Non abbiamo mai pensato di riprenderli. Dopo abbiamo visto OmarGoshTv - canale YouTube sulle investigazioni del paranormale, ndr - e abbiamo deciso di iniziare a documentare le prove che trovavamo. Q: Is your team made up just two of you? Do you use particular equipment during explorations? (Il vostro team è composto solo da voi due? Usate attrezzature particolare durante le esplorazioni?)
A: It is just me and Layne, but we have some friends and fellow youtubers James - A View From The Middle - tags along on some investigations. Right now we mainly use a camera, evp's recorder, grid light and sometimes the spirit box SB7. We also use KII and emf detector. (Siamo solo io e Layne, ma abbiamo alcuni amici e compagni youtubers come James - del canale youtube A View From The Middle - che ci accompagnano in queste indagini. Al momento usiamo principalmente una videocamera, un registratore evp, un sistema di illuminazione e la "spirit box" - scanner per radio frequenze. Q: When did the idea to exploring potentially haunted places come about and who thought of it first? (Quando è nata l'idea di esplorare luoghi potenzialmente infestati e chi l'ha avuta per prima?)
A: I have been exploring since I was teenager, many many years ago - Lol - and Layne has some special gifts as an empath, so she has always been into paranormal. We started exploring about 10 years ago. But we have always done home investigations. So I guess I thought of it. A: We had one place we went where 3 guys were hiding in the woods and it seemed they were up to know good we were back pretty far and had to sneak around them to get out. But that wasn't paranormal, it was real people. They scare me worse sometimes. As for the paranormal, my daughter and I both had an attachment that took us a while to get rid of. We had scratches and affected our personalities as well. That was definitely scary. (C'era un posto dove andavamo e dove tre ragazzi si erano nascosti nei boschi e sembrava che sapessero che eravamo tornate e che per uscire da lì avremmo dovuto sgattaiolare intorno a loro per andar via. Q: Is there a video you shot that gave you more satisfaction? (C'è un video che avete girato che vi ha dato maggior soddisfazione?)
A: I love the places that are so active that we don't even have to ask for spirits to show us signs they are there. The hill house in Gainesville, Texas, is one of those. Loved it there. (Adoriamo i luoghi talmente attivi che non dobbiamo nemmeno chiedere agli spiriti di darci un segno della loro presenza. la casa sulla collina a Gainesville, in Texas, è uno di questi. Q: Obvious but not obvious question: do you believe in the paranormal? (Domanda ovvia ma non ovvia: credete nel paranormale?)
A: Yes, most definitely. However we go into each investigation as a skeptic. You have to not every noise or creek is paranormal. So we go in debunking as much as we can. (Si, sicuramente. Comunque affrontiamo ogni indagine con scetticismo. Non tutti i rumori o le crepe sono paranormali. Cerchiamo di demistificare il più possibile.)
Q: Who are Amy and Layne in everyday life? (Chi sono Amy e Layne nella vita di tutti i giorni?)
A: I am a cook for a senior center, we do meals on wheels for senior. Also own a catering company. Layne is a private care nurses aide. (Io sono una cuoca per un centro di anziani, preparo i pasti a domicilio per gli anziani. Possiedo anche una società di catering. Layne è una assistente sanitaria in una clinica privata.)
Q: In your YouTube channel, confrontation with people is important: how important is to feel the affection and support of your audience? (Nel vostro canale YouTube, il confronto con le persone è importante: quanto è importante sentire l'affetto e il sostegno del vostro pubblico?)
A: We don't see any of them as audience. We treat them like family because that's what they have all become. We are growing our channel slowly because we want to get to know the people who support us. (Non vediamo nessuno di loro come pubblico.
